In short: Baito Nihongo does not collect, store on a server, sell or share any personal data. Everything you do in the app stays on your iPhone.

What stays on your device

The app saves your settings (language, pronunciation style, reminder time), the lessons and word packs you have completed, your review schedule, saved phrases, quiz scores and practice streak. This information is stored only on your iPhone, protected by iOS data protection, and is never sent to us or anyone else. Deleting the app deletes it.

Microphone and speech recognition

If you use Speak & check, the app asks for permission to use the microphone and speech recognition. Your voice is processed by Apple’s speech recognition on your iPhone; the app requires on-device recognition and does not record, store or upload your voice. You can turn these permissions off at any time in the iPhone Settings app.

Notifications

If you turn on the daily reminder, the app schedules a local notification on your iPhone. No notification service or server is involved.

No accounts, ads, analytics or tracking

There is no sign-in, no advertising, no analytics and no third-party software development kits in the app. The app does not track you across apps or websites. It works fully offline; it only opens web links, the share sheet or your email app when you tap them.

Children

The app is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
